The Icelandic higher education consist mainly of seven Universities, each based on its own structure, that offeer dozens of programs and courses.
These universities are following:
University of Iceland
The main ship in the Icelandic higher education navy- "The Big Ben" among other smaller clocks. University of Iceland offers:
( a short version of the school policy) "The University of Iceland aims to be one of the world’s
leading universities and apply approved standards to all quality assurance of its operations.
The university holds itself and its lecturers, management and other staff to high standards.
High demands are also made of students; this ensures that a degree from the University of Iceland is

Reykjavik University
Often callend "the fancy one" among Icelandic students. Has in a short time grown into a big and respected University.

Peacefull and quiet out on country. Bifröst is a social science university which offers education in business, law, philosophy, politics, and economics.

Akureyri University
The Akureyri University is in the heart of the capital town in the north of Iceland. The University operates three faculties, faculty of health science, faculty of buisnes and faculty og faculty of humanities.

Agricultural University of Iceland
As the name speaks out so freely, this is the University where traditional farmership and green values meet the academic culture. The main focus is on the conservation and sustainable use of the land and animal resources, including traditional agriculture, horticulture and forestry, environmental planning, restoration sciences, rural development and sustainable development.

Iceland Academic of arts
The place where freaks from your childhood become the hipsters of the city.

Holar University
Holar University is placed in Hjaltadal, one of the most historical places in Iceland. This is a small school with local atmosphere.
Currently the school operates three academic departments; Aquaculture and fish biology, Equine studies and Rural Tourism.
